Highest Honor

2016
Made out of handmade paper using surplus military hospital scrubs
12′ wide x 26′ long

Done as a site-specific piece for the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, just across the Potomac from DC.

Oversize version of the WWII Army/Navy “E” Award for excellence in wartime production, given to the Torpedo Factory’s workers when the facility was still in production. Created with the help of a group of injured vets, one of whom donated the Gulf War-era newspapers used to make the central garland.
